  Asking your doctor to help

If you really don’t want to contact your partner yourself, your doctor may be willing to help you.  Your doctor can help by:

  • Contacting your partner on your behalf by phone, letter, email or SMS without ever mentioning your name.
  • Asking specially trained nurses that work for the health department to contact your partner.  These nurses, known as “contact tracers”, will not reveal your name to your partner under any circumstances.

If your doctor is willing to help you, we have a website that he/she can visit.
Tell your doctor to have a look at www.mshc.org.au/gpassist

It has prepared letters that your doctor can use to contact your partner.
